Job Description

Classification Title: Security Guard I

Responsibilities:

Respond to calls and alarms, investigate incidents, and report verbally and in writing on accidents, illnesses, and incidents. Report alarms for equipment such as freezers, cold rooms, incubators, autoclaves, or mechanical devices to Facilities or Building Services.
Patrol assigned premises: monitor traffic, investigate suspicious activities, listen for alarms, and report to authorities when necessary.
Monitor employee parking lots for permit compliance and report violations; oversee CCTV security systems.
Ensure security systems are operational, doors are not forced or left open, and alarms are set.
Register visitors, check IDs, and contact hosts for escort.
Provide escort services to staff and students as needed for safety.
Report malfunctions of equipment related to Facilities, Building Services, EH&S, and Security.
Monitor access control systems for proper card use and system integrity.
Perform other duties as assigned.

Salary:

Commensurate with experience.

Minimum Requirements:

High school diploma or equivalent.

Preferred Qualifications:

1 year of related security experience or equivalent.
Availability for flexible shifts.
Professional demeanor with good interpersonal and communication skills.
CPR/First Aid certification (preferred).
Experience working with Law Enforcement agencies (preferred).
