The Associated Students of California State University, Chico is recruiting for a Teacher at the Child Development Lab. This is a full-time, academic-year (1700 hours), benefited position. The pay range is $22.00-$22.25/hour; new hires typically start at the beginning of the range. The anticipated schedule is 7:45am to 4:15pm Monday through Thursday and 7:15am to 3:45pm Friday. This schedule is subject to change based on operational needs.
The Associated Students (AS) is a comprehensive campus auxiliary corporation of CSU,Chico serving thousands of students, faculty, staff and community members through myriad student programs, services and business enterprises. With an annual budget of more than $21M, the AS operates residential and retail dining services, the Bell Memorial Union, the Wildcat Recreation Center (WREC), and administers the contract for the Wildcat Store (bookstore). Additionally, the AS offers a wide variety of services and programs such as: CAVE (Community Action Volunteers in Education), Child Development Lab, Adventure Outings, Recycling, Sustainability and student government. Typically, the AS employs more than 100 full and part-time employees and more than 400 students.

SUMMARY
Under the supervision of the Head Teacher, establish and maintain a developmentally appropriate environment and curriculum which provides for the optimum development of young children. Establish positive reciprocal relationships with families; work collaboratively with other staff members in promoting a positive work environment; supervise and coach student staff and practicum students.

Work is performed in an office and classroom environment; exposure contagious diseases and blood borne pathogens; continuous contact with staff, campus community, and public.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Develop and implement evidence-based curriculum and programming in accordance with the Child Development Lab mission and goals.
- Function as a collaborative team-teacher providing instruction, supervision and coaching to student teachers and volunteers.
- Write anecdotal notes that document children's learning and development across domains.
- Collaboratively reflect on written observations of children and facilitate the process of planning weekly outcomes for children's development and learning.
- Organize a systematic approach of observation and assessment of children.
- Assist the Head Teacher in the supervision, training, and evaluation of student staff modeling appropriate early childhood practices and teaching techniques.
- Participate in professional development opportunities as assigned.
- Assume authority when assigned to accept licensing evaluations and implement emergency procedures in the absence of the Head Teacher and the Child Development Lab Director.
- Communicate Child Development Lab philosophy and program policy with families, student teachers and volunteers.
- Provide input and feedback concerning competencies and abilities of student teachers and practicum students.
- Assist in facilitating family programs, events and community outreach.
- Conduct daily programming.
- Assist in identifying and supporting children or families with special needs, providing information about community resources plan, schedule and conduct family conferences.
- Share information and observations regarding children's daily activities, progress, and development with families identify and report suspected child abuse and neglect to appropriate authorities.
- Perform a variety of assignments related to the planning, implementation, and conduct of programs.
- Mandated Reporter: This position is designated as a General Mandated Reporter under the California Child Abuse and Neglect Reporting Act and is required to comply with the requirements set forth in CSU Executive Order 1083 (revised July 21, 2017), as a condition of employment. Training is required and will be provided.

- One (1) year professional full-time or part-time equivalent experience teaching within an early learning program. One year experience as a part-time teacher at the Child Development Lab (averaging 29 hours per week during the academic year) is acceptable. A bachelor degree and six months student experience working in a lab school setting at least 20 hours per week may be substituted for the (1) year professional experience.
- Completion of 24 ECE/CD units with core courses; PLUS 16 General Education units
- Three (3) infant/toddler units are required for a position in the infant/toddler classrooms
Bachelor of Arts in Child Development or related field with 24 ECE/CD units with core courses, PLUS 16 general Education units
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
- Child Development Instructional Teacher Permit, or ability to obtain within six (6) months of hire.
- Three (3) infant/toddler units or ability to complete within six (6) months of hire.
- Department of Justice and FBI background clearance or have a successful transfer of licensing exemption and a successful licensing record.
- Possession of CPR and First Aid Certificates or willingness to complete upon offer of employment.
- Tuberculosis, MMR and Tdap clearance.
- Pre-employment physical.
- Satisfactory completion of a background check (including a criminal records check) is required for employment. Associated Students will make a conditional offer of employment which may be rescinded if the background check reveals any disqualifying information, and/or it is discovered that the candidate knowingly withheld or falsified information. Failure to satisfactorily complete the background check may affect the application status of applicants or continued employment of current Associated Students employees who apply for the position.
