Position Title: Infant Lead Teacher
Location: BrightStars Learning Academy Starkville, Mississippi
Employment Type: Full-Time
Compensation: $13.00 per hour
Schedule: 8-hour shift between 7:00 AM 5:00 PM (must maintain open availability)

Position Summary:

BrightStars Learning Academy is seeking a qualified, compassionate, and highly skilled Infant Lead Teacher to join our Starkville team. The ideal candidate is committed to early childhood excellence, demonstrates professional integrity, and exhibits the ability to foster a nurturing, safe, and developmentally appropriate environment for infants ages 6 weeks to 12 months.

This position is responsible for the day-to-day implementation of curriculum, supervision, and care of infants in accordance with Mississippi Department of Health licensing standards, NAEYC best practices, and internal operational protocols.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Education:
    • Child Development Associate (CDA) Credential OR
    • Associates Degree or higher in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, or a related field from an accredited institution.
  • Experience:
    • A minimum of two (2) years of paid work experience in a licensed childcare center, nursery, or early learning program, serving infants or toddlers.
  • Age & Background Requirements:
    • Must be at least 21 years of age.
    • Must pass comprehensive FBI fingerprint background check, child abuse clearance, sex offender registry check, and health/TB screening prior to hire.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Current First Aid & Infant/Child CPR Certification (or ability to obtain within 30 days of hire)
  • Knowledge of the MISSISSIPPI EARLY LEARNING GUIDELINES for Infants and Toddlers
  • Proficiency in Brightwheel or comparable early learning platforms
  • Prior experience with infant curriculum implementation and observation-based assessment tools

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provide direct care and supervision to infants in accordance with ratio guidelines at all times.
  • Create and maintain a warm, responsive, and stimulating classroom environment that supports each childs developmental progress.
  • Ensure adherence to diapering, feeding, and sanitation protocols with full compliance to health and safety standards.
  • Develop and implement age-appropriate lesson plans that support cognitive, emotional, social, and physical development.
  • Conduct regular developmental assessments and maintain accurate, confidential records.
  • Collaborate with families to support individualized care routines and maintain open communication through daily updates and formal conferences.
  • Participate in required training, staff development, and team meetings.
  • Maintain classroom cleanliness and contribute to center-wide safety procedures and emergency preparedness.
  • Demonstrate ethical conduct, professionalism, and reliability in all aspects of job performance.

Schedule & Benefits:

  • Open availability required: Monday through Friday, between 7:00 AM and 5:00 PM. Assigned an 8-hour shift within that window.
  • Paid Holidays following a 90-day probationary period.
