Job Description
Focused Staffing Group is seeking dedicated educators to join our team and support partner schools in providing students with high-quality instruction and academic growth opportunities. REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONSMaster’s in a related field
NYS Teaching Certification in a related field
At least two years of prior teaching experience
At least two years of teaching experience in high school
Demonstrated success working in non-traditional and/or urban school settings
Excellent oral and written communication skills
Experience with educational technology (SMARTBoard, student laptops, etc.)
Willingness to learn and grow professionally
Content Knowledge and Planning
Exhibit an understanding of and skills relevant to the subject area(s) taught
Demonstrate an ability to make topics and activities meaningful and relevant to each student
Integrate available technology resources compatible with students’ needs and abilities
Develop lesson plans that are clear, logical, and sequential using Understanding by Design principles
Plan with the appropriate specialist(s) to differentiate instruction to meet the needs of all students
Instructional Strategies
Link present content/skills with past and future learning experiences
Use various instructional strategies (e.g., modeling, cooperative learning, reading and writing in the content areas) to differentiate learning
Use questioning strategies to engage students and promote learning
Monitor student understanding and adjust teaching when appropriate
Provide opportunities for all learners to participate actively and successfully
Explain content and demonstrate skills in a variety of ways to meet student needs
Hold each learner individually responsible for learning
Assessment
Use a variety of assessments to monitor and modify instruction as needed
Effectively use both teacher-made and standardized tests to measure performance
Use oral, non-verbal, and written assessments appropriately
Maintain accurate records of student progress to guide instruction
Provide meaningful feedback before, during, and after instruction
Demonstrate competence in grading and reporting student achievement
Student Communication and Rapport
Use clear, precise, and professional communication
Set and articulate clear learning goals and instructional procedures
Model caring, fairness, respect, and active listening
Maintain positive interactions with students in all settings
Demonstrate concern for students' emotional and physical well-being
Classroom Management
Communicate clear expectations about behavior to students and parents
Monitor student behavior and provide constructive feedback
Create a setting and routines that promote learning and minimize disruptions
Structure transitions effectively
Manage classroom challenges and emergencies appropriately
Professional Demeanor and Development
Maintain a professional appearance and conduct
Collaborate ethically and professionally with colleagues and students
Follow organizational policies, practices, and regulations
Meet responsibilities in a timely and effective manner
Participate in professional growth opportunities (workshops, courses, conferences)
Apply new methods of instruction and reflect on areas for improvement
Community and Collaboration
Communicate with parents/guardians regarding student progress
Respond promptly to concerns and encourage parental involvement
