Be Above Fort Hamilton is a preschool that provides quality childcare for families within the Fort Hamilton community. Our school supports all aspects of children’s growth and development in a safe and nurturing environment. We provide a sound educational foundation for children’s academic growth. Our program provides comprehensive services for children and their families in keeping with our philosophy that the caregiver is the child’s primary teacher.
We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Preschool Teacher to join our educational team. The ideal candidate will foster a nurturing and stimulating environment for young children, promoting their social, emotional, and cognitive development. This role is essential in guiding students through their early learning experiences, utilizing a variety of teaching methods to engage and inspire.
Duties
- Develop and implement age-appropriate lesson plans that align with the Creative Curriculum.
- Create a safe, welcoming, and engaging classroom environment that encourages exploration and learning.
- Foster positive relationships with students, parents, and colleagues to support the child's development.
- Conduct regular assessments of student progress and adapt teaching strategies accordingly.
- Provide care for 3k or 4k children, ensuring their safety and well-being throughout the day.
- Collaborate with other educators to develop and enhance curriculum initiatives.
- Implement early intervention strategies for children who may need additional support.
- Maintain classroom organization and cleanliness to create an optimal learning space.
- Participate in staff meetings, professional development opportunities, and school events.
Qualifications
- Experience working with students in a preschool or daycare setting is preferred.
- Strong background in lesson planning and familiarity with the Creative Curriculum tailored for young children.
- Excellent communication skills to effectively interact with children, parents, and staff members.
- Ability to create engaging learning experiences that cater to diverse learning styles.
- A nurturing demeanor with a genuine passion for teaching young children.
- For 2k or 3k teacher - candidate must hold an Associates in early childhood or Bachelor's degree in early childhood education or related field, or be enrolled in a Bachelor's degree with enough early childhood credits
- For 4k teacher - candidate must have completed a Bachelor's in early childhood or related field, or a Masters in early childhood, and is certified or currently working on early childhood certification
- Certification is preferred but not required
- Familiarity with creating lesson plans, behavior management and early childhood practices.
This is a 12-month position. Hours are 7:30am-4:00 pm at the Fort Hamilton location in Brooklyn, New York
The position is for a 2's, 3's or 4's Lead Teacher.
• Bilingual Mandarin, Russian, Spanish, Arabic preferred.
• Additional center/school requirements may apply.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $50,000 - $74,500.00 per year
