JOB TITLE: Teacher

DEPARTMENT: Hualapai Head Start

SALARY: $25 Hr.

OPENING DATE: January 23, 2025

CLOSING DATE: January 29, 2025

SUMMARY OF POSITION:

Under the direction of the Head Start Director, assists in overseeing and directing the planning, organizing, and implementation of education services for children, in addition to part-time classroom teacher duties which include developing and implementing individual educational plans for children. The position may be reassigned to various classrooms/centers/bus routes as deemed necessary for program operations.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Attends all required training and workshops to include but not limited to 15 hours of classroom focused professional development.
  • Remains up-to-date on information that pertains to the needs of the children in the program including Head Start Performance Standards.
  • Responsible for the weekly preparations of daily lesson plans, which includes objectives to be posted for parents, volunteers, and visitors in the classroom.
  • Develops an individual plan for each child to include goal setting based on identified needs.
  • Documents daily child observations into TSG and meets the 3 checkpoints for the year on every child.
  • Required to have knowledge on Head Start curriculum (Creative, Second Steps, and Hatch).
  • Schedules home visits and parent-teacher conferences with families as required.
  • Maintains strict confidentiality with respect to Head Start children, families, and staff.
  • Prepares and maintains a safe, healthy learning environment for children.
  • Provides sufficient and appropriate outdoor time daily for children.
  • Develops individual training plans for all staff supervised.
  • Contributes to the collection of correct documentation for the Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP).
  • Performs other duties assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Education & Experience:

  • An Associate degree in early childhood education;
  • An associate degree in a related field and coursework equivalent to a major relating to early childhood education, with experience teaching preschool-age children; or
  • A Baccalaureate degree in a field related to Early Childhood Education.
  • Be enrolled in a program leading to an associate or baccalaureate degree.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Ability to communicate both written and orally.
  • Ability to follow directions from both written and oral instructions.
  • Ability to read and comprehend instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
  • Ability to communicate with families and children in a positive manner.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office programs.

Other:

  • Ability to exhibit patience and tact when communicating with children, families, staff, management, and the public.
  • Must be able to work Monday-Friday.
  • Must pass a background investigation and obtain a Fingerprint Clearance Card.
  • Must pass a pre-employment drug and alcohol screening.
  • Must be able to maintain confidentiality.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 1 year experience of working with preschool-aged children.
