Job Description: Attend to patients on the phone and in person. Coordinate and organize appointments and documentation to facilitate the smooth running of the healthcare environment and support delivery of quality patient care. Maintains all department functions including billing, medical records, and clerical support. Responsible for corresponding with patients in person and on the phone with a friendly, professional attitude.


DUTIES AND RESPONSIBLITIES:


1. Welcomes patients and visitors by greeting patients and visitors in person or on the telephone; answering or referring inquiries.
2. Optimizes patients’ satisfaction, provider time and treatment room.
3. Utilization by scheduling appointments in person or by telephone.
4. Protects patient’s rights by maintaining confidentiality of personal, medical and financial information.
5. Keeps patient appointments on schedule by checking in on time.
6. Enhances revenue by recording and updating financial information and verifying insurance correctly; recording and collecting patient charges; collecting patient balances/collections.
7. Maintains patient accounts by obtaining, recording and updating personal and financial information in the patient’s demographics.
8. Maintains operations by following policies and procedures; reporting needed changes.
9. Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
10. Maintains vital yearly paperwork for each patient making sure all forms are up to date, obtain signatures for HIPPA forms as well as New Patient Paperwork.
11. Maintains medical record requests; reviews each request and responds appropriately by printing only requested records and mailing, faxing or sending by certified mail.
12. Balance daily transactions and prepare superbills and money for billing department at the end of your workday.
13. Miscellaneous office duties including filing, copying and faxing.
14. Maintains communication with physicians and nursing staff, communication is vital.
15. Keep lobby, reception and your desk area neat and orderly.
16. Any other duties as assigned.
17. Maintains confidentiality while working with confidential matters on a daily basis.
18. Presents strong public relations skills.
19. Maintains a courteous, mature, and friendly disposition at all times.
20. Follows safety guidelines and policies for DHCHD.


JOB QUALIFICATIONS:


Education: High school graduate or equivalent.

Job Related Skills:

A. Working knowledge of customer service, calculator, fax machine and copiers.
B. Familiar with operating computers and knowledge of general clerical duties.
C. Multitasking, flexibility, telephone skills, customer service, time management, organization, attention to detail, scheduling medical terminology, professionalism and quality focus.

Experience:


A. Prior work experience in a medical office is preferred.
B. Computer, multiline phone system.

Physical and Mental Requirements:


A. Duties of the position require intermittent walking, sitting and standing.
B. Some bending, stooping and reaching is required with the lifting of items up to a weight of 40 pounds.
C. The ability to comprehend and follow written or verbal instructions.
