JOB TITLE: Receptionist, Campus

WAGE/HOUR STATUS: Nonexempt

REPORTS TO: Principal

DEPT./SCHOOL: Assigned Campus

PRIMARY PURPOSE:

Serve as receptionist for the campus office. Greet all visitors, answer and direct phone calls, and provide information and assistance to visitors, students, and staff.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education/Certification: High school diploma or GED

Special Knowledge/Skills:

  • Clerical/secretarial skills
  • Ability to operate multi-line phone system
  • Knowledge of telephone etiquette
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Proficiency in word processing on personal computers

Experience: One year of clerical or secretarial experience preferred

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:

  1. Receive incoming calls, take reliable messages, and route to appropriate staff.
  2. Greet visitors, respond to their needs, and direct them to the appropriate staff or department.
  3. Supervise students in the office area on a temporary basis.
  4. Coordinate messages from parents or administrators to students or teachers in the classroom.
  5. Provide clerical support for the office.
  6. Assist with student activities such as SAC and D-Hall assignments, tardy slips, etc., as assigned.
  7. Maintain regular attendance and report to work at the designated site as scheduled.
  8. Maintain confidentiality of information.
  9. Promote a positive and professional work environment.
  10. Perform other duties as assigned by the principal.

EQUIPMENT USED:

Personal computer, multi-line telephone, copier, fax machine, and other office equipment.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

Mental Demands:

Effective communication (verbally and in writing), ability to prioritize, handle multiple duties, direct inquiries appropriately, and maintain emotional control under stress.

Physical Demands/Environmental Factors:

Work involves frequent interruptions, heavy use of multi-line phone system, and repetitive hand motions.

School district employees may be required to work from home and use personal electronic devices.
