Heroes in the Rough is a Las Vegas-based nonprofit committed to supporting disabled veterans through sports, community, and connection. Through adaptive golf programs and empowering experiences, we help our heroes rediscover a sense of purpose, healing, and camaraderie.

Position Summary
We are seeking a creative, organized, and community-minded Marketing & Communications Volunteer Manager to lead essential marketing efforts for the organization. This role will help ensure consistent communication with our veterans, supporters, and partners—while maintaining the integrity and heart of the Heroes in the Rough brand. This role is volunteer-based (~5–10 hours/week) and is perfect for someone with marketing, social media, or design skills who wants to give back and be part of something meaningful. Training and handoff of marketing responsibilities will be provided.
Key Responsibilities
- Email Marketing
- Create and send email communications using Constant Contact, including event invites, newsletters, and updates for our database of veterans, donors, and community partners.
- Maintain contact lists and email performance reports.
- Social Media Management
- Manage and update our social media accounts (Facebook and LinkedIn).
- Plan and post engaging, mission-aligned content before and after events.
- Help grow our online presence and engagement with key audiences.
- Website Management (Wix)
- Update website copy, imagery, and event information on a light, ongoing basis.
- Ensure website content stays aligned with current messaging and branding.
- Brand & Asset Management
- Collaborate with the Administrative Manager to organize and update all brand and marketing assets (logos, photos, templates) on our shared drive.
- Maintain brand consistency across all materials.
- Design & Content Creation
- Design simple flyers, graphics, and event materials using Canva.
- Maintain the consistent look and feel of the Heroes in the Rough brand in all communications.
- Support signage, presentations, and printed assets as needed.
- Coordinate design and production of branded merchandise (shirts, hats, etc.).
- Liaise with vendors for ordering and delivery logistics.
Qualifications
- Basic experience with email marketing platforms (Constant Contact).
- Familiarity with Canva and/or other simple design tools.
- Experience managing Facebook and LinkedIn business pages.
- Comfort working in Wix or a willingness to learn.
- Organized and detail-oriented, with a good eye for brand consistency.
- Collaborative and responsive communicator.
Bonus Skills (Not Required)
- Experience with fundraising or donor engagement campaigns
- Photography or event content capture skills
- Knowledge of veterans' organizations or community-based nonprofits
