Joint Meeting of Essex & Union Counties, a Wastewater Treatment facility located in Elizabeth, NJ, is seeking a full time, permanent Electrician to work with team members within the Electrical Department as well as with operational, maintenance, laboratory and IT team members. Under the direction of the Electrical Supervisor, the qualified candidate must possess knowledge of industrial/commercial electrical circuitry, controls, power distribution systems and be familiar with approved methods. Must be able to read, comprehend and follow industrial schematics and basic wiring diagrams. Candidate must be knowledgeable in NEC code requirements and safety standards.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- At least 18 years of age
- Authorized to work in the US
- High school diploma or GED or Trade school certification or equivalent
- Possess and maintain a valid New Jersey electrical license
- A valid driver’s license is required
- Minimum of 5 years experience as an electrician in a commercial or industrial environment.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
The successful applicant should be able to perform all the following functions at a pace and level of performance consistent with the actual job performance requirements.
- Inspect and test electrical equipment, signals, communications and power
- Repair, install, replace and tests electrical circuits, equipment and
- Using hand tools and testing instruments such as multimeters, ammeters, tachometers, meggers etc.
- Isolate defects in wiring, switches, motors, sensors, plcs, vfds, automation systems and other electrical
- Troubleshoot/replace faulty switches, relays, sockets, timers, programmable logic controllers, I/O modules, variable frequency drives and other simple elements of electrical
- Troubleshoot and install lighting fixtures.
- Program, maintain, and troubleshoot programmable logic controllers, variable frequency drives, motor control centers, RTUs, HMIs, instrumentation equipment and control systems.
- Correctly interprets technical documents for proper execution of assignments.
- Dismantle electrical machinery and replace defective electrical or mechanical
- Read, interpret, and work from blueprints, electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical manuals
- Ensure electrical systems are installed according to drawings and specifications.
