Part-Time Contract (Break/Fix Support)

Overview

We are seeking mid- to senior-level licensed electricians with proven critical environment or data center experience to support our clients Data Center. These roles provide ad-hoc break/fix electrical support to ensure uptime and reliability critical environment.

This is a flexible, part-time contract position (approx. 20 hrs/week initially) with the intent to ramp up to full-time (40 hrs/week) as workload increases in the coming months. It is well-suited for highly skilled electricians who thrive in mission-critical environments and can flex between independent troubleshooting and close collaboration with onsite engineering teams.

Responsibilities

  • Provide on-call break/fix electrical support for Red Oak data center within defined SLAs.
  • Troubleshoot, repair, and maintain low-, medium-, and high-voltage electrical infrastructure including switchgear, distribution panels, and transformers.
  • Perform hands-on tasks such as circuit testing, breaker replacement, wiring repairs, and load balancing verification.
  • Support maintenance and upgrades of UPS systems, generators, and other critical backup power systems (as assigned).
  • Collaborate with other facilities and site engineering teams to resolve electrical issues promptly and efficiently.
  • Document work performed with accurate task notes, test results, and follow-up recommendations.
  • Adhere strictly to NFPA 70E, OSHA standards, Microsoft site protocols, and all safety policies.
  • Operate with the highest level of professionalism, discretion, and awareness within a secure, mission-critical environment.

Qualifications

  • Active Texas Journeyman or Master Electrician License required (Master preferred).
  • 5+ years of progressive experience in commercial, industrial, or data center electrical work, with at least 2+ years in a critical environment facility.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of low, medium, and high-voltage (MV/HV) systems in mission-critical environments.
  • Familiarity with UPS, standby generators, automatic transfer switches (ATS), switchgear, and distribution systems strongly preferred.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical diagrams, schematics, one-line drawings, and operational manuals.
  • Proven ability to troubleshoot under pressure and resolve electrical faults quickly while maintaining safety compliance.
  • Reliable transportation and flexibility to work onsite at the Red Oak, TX campus.
  • Willingness to accept on-call assignments and respond to tickets within 48 hours.
  • Must successfully complete Microsoft’s background check and site security clearance requirements.

Compensation & Commitment

  • Part-time contract position starting at ~20 hrs/week.
  • Flexible schedule with assignments as needed.
