Overview

Electrician will repair, maintain and install various electrical systems and equipment according to specifications and codes and perform various other electrical work.

Essential Functions

Perform installation, maintenance, and repair of electrical systems and equipment both indoors and outdoors across all MLGW facilities. This includes high-voltage switchgear, lighting, battery chargers, intercom/alarm systems, VFD drives, and PLC controllers. Responsibilities also involve installing and servicing electrical wiring, conduit, fixtures, both new and legacy equipment. Use computers to troubleshoot systems, interpret blueprints and schematics, and review technical documentation. Operate remote stations during outages. Drive CDL-required vehicles and operate equipment such as forklifts, bucket trucks, and trenchers.

Use high-voltage testing tools while wearing 100 Cal arc flash suits and follow all safety regulations. Work in high-voltage vaults and gas gate checkpoints.

Responsible for troubleshooting and repairing high-voltage circuit breakers, VFDs, PLCs, electrical actuators, and motors. They support both routine operations and new construction projects by installing and upgrading power, lighting, conduit, and receptacles. This role will maintain gas modems, rectifiers for corrosion control, and backup systems such as UPS and DC batteries. Coordination with SCADA is required for fuse operations at poles and transformers. Assist engineers with electrical planning and integration of new and legacy systems, including participating in Arc Flash safety studies and ensuring NEC compliance. Work includes oversight of outside contractors to ensure adherence to NEC standards. Electricians ensure proper clearances, access panels, and safe installations. Install telecom conduit and fiber cabling, support radio and surveillance power systems, and provide electrical solutions to issues affecting multiple departments including Gas Relay, Engineering, and Telecom. Perform other duties as assigned.
