Summary Description

Works under general supervision to perform journeyman-level work, such as repairing and maintaining electrical wiring; evaluating layout plans and cost estimates; installing new systems; repairing existing electrical high and low voltage systems; performing minor rebuilding tasks; and repairing or replacing miscellaneous equipment.

Purpose and Scope

Works under general supervision to perform journeyman-level work, including repairing and maintaining electrical wiring, evaluating layout plans, installing new systems, repairing electrical systems, and performing minor rebuilding tasks.

Essential Job Functions

This position is not an exhaustive list of duties but reflects primary job elements.

• Ensure safe, efficient, and cost-effective repair and maintenance of electrical equipment in the District.
• Inspect electrical installations for compliance with specifications and codes.
• Evaluate and estimate costs for repairs and minor installations.
• Plan, install, and repair wiring, fixtures, and control equipment.
• Respond to electrical emergency situations as needed.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

High school diploma or GED plus four (4) years of experience in commercial electrical installation and/or maintenance. Memphis and Shelby County Journeyman Electrical License required. (Proof of education, training, and experience is required).

Degree equivalency:

• Bachelor's Degree = 4 years plus experience
• Master's Degree = 2 years plus experience

Special Requirements

• Memphis and Shelby County Journeyman Electrical License required.

Additional Details

This position will work in MSCS Zone 2 and Zone 4.
