What this job involves

The Electrician will oversee the daily operation of the campus electrical power and lighting systems. Under general supervision, install, operate, maintain, alter, troubleshoot, and repair electrical power and lighting distribution systems along with a wide variety of industrial electrical equipment. This position requires a high level of technical expertise with building infrastructure. The individual must be available for on-call work, including off-hours shifts, evenings, nights, and weekends.

What is your day to day?

  • Operate, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair facility equipment on all systems.
  • Assist with maintenance, monitoring, and performance of preventive maintenance on all equipment, including electrical, HVAC, emergency backup, and hot water systems.
  • Analyze system operations, identify problems/malfunctions, and take corrective actions.
  • Assist other mechanics and operators with major repairs and maintenance.
  • Install, repair, and maintain electrical controls, switching, and motor controls.
  • Monitor operation, repair, and maintain mechanical and electrical equipment, recording readings and reporting issues.
  • Comply with safety policies for hazardous materials.
  • Maintain a clean and safe workplace.
  • Perform other general maintenance and support duties as needed.
  • Oversee the operation, repair, and maintenance of electrical and lighting systems, perform new installations, and preventive maintenance.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert on electrical, life safety, and fire alarm systems.
  • Understand engineering design and operational aspects of critical building systems.
  • Troubleshoot and respond to operational and emergency situations.
  • Work with NFPA-70E standards, using Arc Flash PPE as necessary.
  • Perform corrective actions on malfunctioning equipment.
  • Assist with maintenance of heating, cooling, water systems, boilers, pumps, valves, and filters.
  • Prioritize work orders and ensure minimal disruption.
  • Identify and remediate EHS issues.
  • Complete required training and adhere to standards.
  • Recommend and estimate repairs and improvements for budget inclusion.
  • Manage inventory of tools and supplies.

Desired experience and technical skills

Required

  • Team player, hardworking, good interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Familiar with BMS and CMMS systems.
  • Ability to operate electric hand tools, work on ladders, lift heavy loads, and work in confined spaces and on roofs.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Proficient in MS Office, Outlook, and work order systems.

Preferred

  • Electrical license and trade license are ideal.

Compensation

Estimated at $57,366.40 – $62,899.20 USD + Shift Differential. This range includes bonuses and is an estimate based on various factors.
