FMM is seeking a motivated professional to fill our Electrical Technician position. FMM is a maintenance and construction company servicing both residential and commercial clients nationwide.

Position location: Tucson, AZ

Responsibilities

  • Plan the layout and installation of electrical wiring, equipment, or fixtures based on job specifications and local codes.
  • Connect wires to circuit breakers, transformers, or other components.
  • Test electrical systems or circuit continuity using testing devices to ensure compatibility and safety.
  • Use a variety of tools and equipment including power tools and testing devices.
  • Inspect electrical systems, equipment, or components to identify hazards, defects, or the need for adjustment or repair and ensure code compliance.
  • Place conduit and pipes in walls or concealed areas and pull insulated wires or cables through conduit to complete circuits.
  • Diagnose malfunctioning systems or components and correct problems using test equipment and hand tools.
  • Install, maintain, and repair electrical systems in accordance with local, state, and national electrical codes.
  • Read and interpret electrical blueprints, schematics, and diagrams; install and connect wiring, outlets, switches, and fixtures; test systems for functionality and safety.
  • Collaborate with other tradespeople to complete projects on time and within budget; maintain a clean and safe work environment.
  • Pre-job and pre-task planning; identify safety hazards and ensure safety procedures are followed; participate in toolbox safety meetings and training.
  • Inspect tools and equipment before use and comply with site safety rules and PPE requirements.
  • Follow supervisor directions and communicate with management and supervision as needed.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent apprenticeship.
  • Minimum of five (5) years of experience in the trade; strong understanding of the craft.
  • Knowledge of safety rules and regulations; ability to learn client and company policy.
  • Proficient in computer, text, and email skills; proficient with power tools and electrical testing equipment.
  • Knowledge of the National Electrical Code (NEC); experience with high and low voltage systems.
  • Ability to read blueprints, schematics, and diagrams; ability to build and install electrical systems in commercial and residential settings.
  • Basic knowledge of frame carpentry for installation purposes.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to pass a Fit for Duty screening; work in all weather conditions; high-noise environment.
  • Regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts and construction machinery; able to lift up to 50 lbs; repetitive use of hands/arms/legs; good hand/eye coordination.
  • Hearing and comprehension necessary for giving and receiving directions; ability to perform physical labor on construction projects; may operate hand and power tools; climb and maintain balance on ladders and scaffolds.

Mental Requirements

  • Ability to fulfill essential job functions in a consistent state of alertness and safety.
  • Effective communication with management and supervision; reading and writing comprehension for safety policy and directions; basic math calculations.
  • Ability to work at various tempos and concentrate amid distractions; strong decision-making and detail-oriented skills.
