Position Summary:

  • We are seeking a skilled Electrical Designer to create detailed electrical schematics, panel layouts, wiring diagrams, and associated documentation for custom industrial thermal processing equipment.

  • This role works closely with electrical engineers, mechanical designers, and project managers to ensure accurate, code-compliant, and manufacturable designs.

  • This is a technical contributor position with no supervisory or formal project management responsibilities.

  • Develop and revise electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and panel layout drawings using AutoCAD Electrical or similar CAD tools.

  • Interpret redlines, design notes, and verbal instructions to translate design intent into accurate drawings.

  • Apply standard design practices and component specifications as provided by engineering leadership.

  • Ensure all designs comply with applicable electrical codes and industry standards (e.g., UL, CE, NFPA 79).

  • Create and maintain bills of materials (BOMs) for equipment builds.

  • Maintain organized documentation, including drawing files, revision history, and version control.

  • Collaborate across departments to clarify requirements and resolve design issues.

  • Provide support to the production floor during panel builds and equipment assembly.

  • Participate in design reviews and lessons-learned sessions as needed.

  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Associate degree in Electrical Design, Drafting, or a related field; or equivalent hands-on experience.

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in electrical drafting/design within a manufacturing or industrial setting.

  • Proficient in AutoCAD Electrical or similar CAD software.

  • Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and panel layouts.

  • Working knowledge of industrial electrical components including relays, VFDs, circuit breakers, and PLCs.

  • Understanding of UL 508A, CE, or similar industrial electrical standards.

  • Exposure to programmable controller (PLC) systems is a plus, though programming knowledge is not required.

  • Familiarity with ERP systems for BOM creation and updates.

  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.

  • Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.

  • Work Environment & Physical Requirements:

  • Primarily office-based work, with occasional time spent on the production floor or customer sites.

  • Exposure to varying temperature environments (heated or refrigerated areas).

  • Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs occasionally.

  • Occasional travel may be required for design validation or on-site support.
