Human Resources Generalist
The Human Resources Generalist works closely with Senior Leadership to support a dynamic, fast-paced, and innovative work environment. This position plays a vital role in all areas of HR, including employee relations, benefits administration, onboarding, performance management, compliance, HRIS management, and policy development.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
- Communicate professionally with employees, management, executives, and vendors through various media, demonstrating poise, discretion, and professionalism in sensitive HR situations.
- Manage & support employee engagement initiatives that foster a collaborative, rewarding, and professional workplace culture.
- Investigate employee relations issues & recommend appropriate resolution strategies.
- Administer & respond to employee benefit inquiries & stay informed of best practices in benefits administration.
- Create, maintain, & revise job descriptions & organizational policies.
- Oversee performance evaluation programs & annual review processes.
- Support & administer payroll in coordination with external providers.
- Maintain affirmative action programs & ensure federal/state compliance (FMLA, EEO, FLSA, OSHA, etc.).
- Lead recruitment efforts, including writing & posting job advertisements.
- Conduct new employee onboarding, particularly benefits orientation.
- Oversee & document exit interviews & offboarding processes.
- Maintain HR records, departmental reports, company directory, & organizational charts.
- Participate in administrative staff meetings & contribute to strategic HR planning.
- Recommend & implement new HR procedures to enhance efficiency & compliance.
- Create & analyze HR reports using Excel to support business decisions.
- Provide general clerical support to the Accounting team.
- Travel between store locations & assist with store-level support functions during peak seasons (e.g., cashiering, supply ordering, Saturday coverage, etc.).
Bonus: Experience with UKG Ready Pay payroll system is highly desirable.
Qualifications & Competencies:
- Education & Experience: 2-4 years of experience in Human Resources or a related field. Bachelor's degree preferred.
- HR certifications (PHR, SPHR, or SHRM-CP) preferred.
- Technical Skills: Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel & MS Office Suite. Experience with Google Workspace. Familiarity with HRIS & payroll systems.
- Core Competencies: Business acumen & strategic thinking. Effective written & verbal communication. High ethical standards & ability to handle confidential information. Strong organizational & time-management skills. Knowledge of HR best practices & performance management. Analytical & problem-solving ability.
