What to expect as the human resources generalist:

Duties of the human resources generalist:
- Partner with employees and management to communicate various human resources policies, procedures, laws, standards, and government regulations.
- Maintain company’s HRIS for assigned locations including new hire information, terminations, leave of absence, payroll status changes, etc.
- Collaborate with HR manager to conduct investigations based on workplace complaints received or identified, and recommend appropriate resolution through the interpretations and fair application of personnel policies and procedures.
- Provide consultation to management regarding disciplinary actions, and review for consistency and compliance.
- Provide assistance to line management with recruiting needs by ensuring open and approved positions are appropriately posted, and assist in the candidate selection process.
- Consult with HR manager on compensation issues regarding employment offers, promotions, and transfers.
- Ensure the proper onboarding of new employees and the professional exit of terminating employees with regards to company policies, procedures, and benefits.
- Conduct employee training programs for managers and employees as required.
- Process workers compensation by collecting information and preparing the reports required for insurance carriers.
- Assist employees in the interpretation of the company’s various benefits programs to achieve effective employee utilization and understanding of such programs.
- Assist line management and employees with HRIS.
- Manage employee relations activities related to employee grievances, conflicts, and complaints, with support from the HR manager.
- Assist in the completion of all governmental reporting requirements for HR related compliance.
- Coordinate monthly all-staff meetings and plan and/or attend various meetings with management regarding HR related matters as applicable by facility.
- Assist with payroll activities and perform other functions as needed.
Requirements to be the human resources generalist:
- Bachelor’s degree in human resources, business administration, communications, or a related field of study.
- 5 years of progressive human resources generalist experience with the full scope of human resources activities.
- Experience with HRIS platforms such as ADP strongly preferred.
