Job Summary
The HR Generalist supports the Human Resources department by organizing and assisting in the facilitation of various HR functions. The ideal candidate will possess excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and a passion for employee development. The role works across all departments (including production, engineering, accounting, shipping and human resources) with the Human Resources Manager to support in the areas of recruiting, onboarding, compensation, payroll, employee relations, benefits and training throughout the organization. This versatile role assists the Human Resources Manager with overall planning.
Description Of Tasks And Responsibilities
- Directs the activities of recruitment to include screening applicants, initial interviews, reference checking and all other aspects and then forward results and recommendations to hiring manager.
- Performs job analyses and writes job descriptions as needed.
- Communicates company policy consistently and effectively to all employees.
- Performs all payroll functions.
- Investigates employee complaints, assists with counseling, and recommends action on employee relation issues.
- Administers all employee benefit plans and recommends revisions or changes. Conducts new employee orientation covering company policies, benefits, sexual harassment.
- Manages all workers compensation and unemployment issues.
- Keeps abreast of changes/updates in laws and legislation with regard to human resources.
- Responsible for all policies, procedures, and programs relating to Human Resources.
- Maintains favorable and effective relations with and among employees.
- Oversees maintenance of accurate and complete personnel records, including confidentiality and retention requirements.
- Assists in the development and updating of training materials, ensuring accuracy and relevance.
- Provides general administrative support to the HR department, including data entry, filing, and scheduling meetings as needed.
- Maintains office supplies, equipment, phone system, postage meter, mail and fax distribution.
- Assists with various projects and administrative tasks as needed.
- Assists in compliance with all regulatory rules and requirements, including documentation and record keeping.
- Frequently works with other departments both internal and international.
- Follows all company policies, procedures and safety rules and wears PPE as required.
- Maintains regular and satisfactory attendance.
- Suggests improvements to increase yields or reduce operating costs.
- Builds and maintains result-based working relationships with Engineering, Maintenance, Shipping, Accounting and HR, among others.
- Works with Quality Assurance personnel to assist in ISO 9000/14001 audits.
- Performs other duties as assigned or directed.
Skills And Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED required
- Associate’s degree or higher in human resources or related field preferred
- Professional training and development or Human Resources experience preferred
- 5+ years of experience in a progressively responsible business, manufacturing, or HR role required
- Excellent verbal and written English communication skills
- Ability to work with a diverse workforce
- Ability to communicate across multiple departments and levels of business from executives and engineers to production leaders and operators
- Strong attention to detail and analytics with ability to present data and advise on process improvement
- Self-initiative with desire to learn, grow and evolve the role
- Ability to multitask and adapt to shifting priorities
- Strong computer skills, especially with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
- Safety-first mindset and adherence to requirements at all times
Physical Demands
- Ability to lift up to 20 lbs occasionally
- Ability to push, pull, and carry up to 20 lbs occasionally
- Sitting and walking frequently
- Standing, bending and crouching occasionally
Work Environment
- Production and inventory environments can be loud; office environment is the primary setting
- Factory-provided uniforms and safety shoes required in production areas
- Occasional clean room work requiring full Class 10 cleanroom attire

- Must be flexible with scheduling; some tasks may require after-hours work
- Wearing factory-provided uniforms and, for some roles, full Class 10 Cleanroom outfits
