The Human Resources Manager is responsible for administering and overseeing the benefit and personnel matters of the Home according to company policies and procedures, applicable laws, regulations and standards. Consults with and assists/advises the Home Administrator and staff. Supervises a HR Specialist.

Job Related Responsibilities and Activities:

1. Administer pre-employment and post employment activities.

2. Administer employee benefit programs to include informing, enrolling and coordinating all benefit programs for all employees.

4. Assist in administering workers’ compensation system by assessing legal obligations and rights of individual employees and Home actions.

5. Monitor and review performance evaluations, including training on proper process.

6. Provide ongoing HR policies & procedure training for all staff.

7. Continuously communicates with staff to assure a clear understanding and application of MVH policies& procedures.

8. Oversees and/or conducts all investigations concerning employee action and issues or questions concerning employee matters.

9. Participates in all disciplinary decisions, including terminations, assuring consistent compliance with company policies.

10. Conducts regular audits of wage & hour practice, compensation equity, non-discrimination policies, employee record creation & retention, required postings, governmental reporting compliance – and makes recommendations as needed.

11. Maintain all necessary employment records for appropriate time periods and assure required confidentiality.

12. Maintain knowledge of all relevant HR laws and regulations and assure Home’s compliance with such laws and regulations.

13. Recommend specific action to HR Director, as deemed necessary, relating to the Home’s employees.

14. Maintain regular and direct communications with HR Director concerning the performance of HR duties and all significant issues or questions of Company interest.

15. Participates in company-wide human resources meetings.

16. Performs other reasonable duties as assigned by Home Administrator, HR Director and Chief Human Resources Officer.

Requirements

Education / Training / Experience:

Associates or bachelors degree in a related field and holds current human resources professional certification.

A minimum of five years HR generalist experience that includes recruitment & retention, compensation &

benefit management, employment law, employee relations and management practices. Proficient in computer

usage. Must possess excellent communication & organizational skills and the ability to work with all staff

levels.

Essential Skills and Knowledge:

  • In depth knowledge of Human Resources practices.
  • Familiar with benefits, FMLA, COBRA, FLSA, ADAAA, Maine Workers’ Compensation, and OSHA laws and practices
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Products including Excel.
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills (verbal & written).
  • Good time management skills
  • Ability to successfully interact with all levels of staff, residents, their families and external customers
  • Requires proficiency in spoken and written English.
  • Ability to understand and respond to residents’ needs and inquiries in English is required.
  • Ability to effectively understand and communicate verbally and in writing, in English, is required.
  • Basic computer skills
