Key Responsibilities

  • Serve as the sole HR point of contact for the organization, supporting both administrative and people-focused functions.
  • Administer payroll processing in collaboration with Exponent HR and AFS, including running reports, exporting to Excel and Microsoft SL for job costing, manually entering per diems and certified payroll adjustments, and assisting with transition to biweekly payroll.
  • Manage HRIS tasks such as generating offer letters, employee action notices (EANs), and maintaining accurate employee data.
  • Partner with benefits brokers and vendors, ensuring proper administration of healthcare, 401(k), and life events.
  • Lead open enrollment and provide reporting to benefits administrators.
  • Support employee engagement initiatives, being available and present on the production floor to foster trust and communication.
  • Address employee relations with compassion, professionalism, and fairness.
  • Collaborate with leadership on goals, objectives, and initiatives that drive culture and retention.

Key Qualifications

  • 3+ years of HR generalist or HR manager experience, preferably in construction, manufacturing, or a field-based workforce.
  • Payroll administration experience is required; knowledge of Exponent HR, AFS, and Microsoft SL strongly preferred.
  • Strong HRIS experience; ability to quickly learn new systems.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel expertise required for payroll reporting).
  • Experience with benefits administration, including 401k reporting, open enrollment, and vendor coordination.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to build trust at all levels of the organization.
  • A balance of compassion and firmness when handling employee concerns.
  • Willingness to be present and accessible on-site, including early mornings to support field staff.
