Roto-Rooter, North America’s premier provider of plumbing, drain cleaning, and water restoration services, is seeking an experienced Human Resources Generalist to join our team. This is a full-time, onsite position located at our new Wadsworth Corporate Center.
Overview
The HR Generalist will support employees and managers in all areas of human resources, including onboarding, employee relations, compliance, rewards and recognition, HRIS administration, and benefits. This role ensures HR practices align with business objectives and legal requirements while fostering a positive, inclusive workplace culture.
Responsibilities
- Onboarding
- Manage the onboarding and orientation process to ensure a seamless new hire experience.
- Support employee integration and engagement during the early stages of employment.
- Employee Relations
- Serve as the first point of contact for HR inquiries from employees and managers.
- Provide guidance on performance management, conflict resolution, disciplinary action, and policy interpretation.
- HR Compliance & Policies
- Maintain compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, including but not limited to FMLA, ADA, FLSA, and state-specific leave laws and wage/hour regulations.
- Ensure company policies are consistently applied and updated as needed.
- Assist with audits, reporting requirements, and compliance training.
- Support payroll and benefits administration processes.
- Answer employee questions about benefits, leave programs, and compensation.
- Rewards & Recognition
- Assist in the design and implementation of programs to recognize employee achievements.
- Promote initiatives that foster engagement, retention, and a culture of appreciation.
- Partner with leadership to ensure recognition efforts align with company values.
- HR Operations
- Maintain accurate employee records in the HRIS system (Inova/UKG).
- Generate reports and analyze HR metrics to support decision-making.
- Ensure data integrity and provide HRIS support to employees and managers.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field (or equivalent experience).
- 2–5 years of HR experience, preferably in a multi-location or service-oriented company.
- Strong knowledge of employment laws including FMLA, ADA, EEO, FLSA, and applicable state-specific labor laws.
- Experience working with HRIS platforms, specifically Inova (powered by UKG), preferred.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise sound judgment.
- Proficiency with MS Office Suite.
- PHR/SPHR or SHRM-CP/SHRM-SCP certification preferred but not required.
