Role: Business Analyst (SQL)
Contract 6+ months
Local to Oakland (3 days onsite required)

Job Description: The Business Analyst will review and enhance computer-based solutions to meet evolving business needs, collaborating closely with stakeholders, project managers, and IT teams. This role requires strong SQL and .NET framework knowledge, combined with expertise in requirements gathering, documentation, and testing within the SDLC framework.

Manager's Note (Key Must-Haves)
  • .NET Framework - Working experience or strong understanding is a MUST
  • SQL Proficiency - Expert level; must be able to write and understand complex queries
  • BRD/FRD, workflows, diagrams experience
  • Waterfall methodology experience
  • Experience converting Functional Requirements into Technical Requirements

Essential Functions
  • Translate business requirements into detailed functional and system specifications.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to define functional/performance expectations and validate implementations.
  • Support SDLC activities including testing (smoke, UAT), defect triage, and release validation.
  • Create and maintain BRDs/FRDs, workflows, and diagrams.
  • Perform impact analysis for downstream systems and evaluate changes.
  • Participate in prototyping/UI evaluation and provide user experience feedback.
  • Track and resolve issues, escalating when necessary.
  • Build strong working relationships with business users and IT teams, managing multiple projects independently.

Must-Have Requirements
  • 5+ years of experience as a Business Analyst.
  • Strong experience with functional application testing.
  • Experience with web applications and UI design.
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite (Excel, Outlook, Visio, Word).
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and project management skills.
  • Understanding of various web-based technologies.
