Responsibilities
- Prepare treatment rooms, sterilize instruments, and assist dentists during procedures.
- Welcome, comfort, and educate patients on oral hygiene and post-treatment care.
- Take and develop X-rays, assist with impressions, and maintain study models.
- Ensure infection control protocols, maintain patient confidentiality, and follow workplace regulations.
- Maintain accurate patient records and documentation, including scheduling and patient intake (if needed).
- Manage dental and medical emergencies by maintaining CPR certification, emergency drug and oxygen supplies, and an emergency telephone directory.
Qualifications
Qualifications:
- Completion of a one-year certified dental assistant program
- 2+ years of on-the-job experience (with supporting documentation)
- X-Ray certification
- Nitrous Oxide certification highly recommended
- High school diploma or equivalent
Dental Assistants are also expected to maintain annual OSHA, HIPAA, CPR, and infection control training as required by law.
