Position Summary
We are seeking a Dental Assistant - Prosth. The Prosthodontist Dental Assistant works under a dentist’s supervision to prepare equipment, ready patients for procedures, and assist during procedures by passing instruments, holding suction, and anticipating the dentist’s needs. Responsibilities may also include removing sutures, processing x-rays, and taking oral impressions for crowns.
Responsibilities
- Work under the direct supervision of the Prosthodontist.
- Perform patient care, office, and laboratory duties, including chair-side assistance.
- Ensure patient comfort, prepare them for treatment, and obtain dental records.
- Hand instruments and materials to dentists, keep patients’ mouths dry and clear.
- Sterilize and disinfect instruments, prepare trays, and instruct on oral health care.
- Prepare materials for impressions and restorations, take and process dental x-rays.
- Assist with radiological procedures as directed.
- Perform office duties like scheduling, record keeping, billing, and supply management.
- Assist in specialty areas including oral surgery, periodontics, prosthodontics, and implantology.
- Support and assist hygienists and manage inventory of supplies.
- Support radiographic needs of other dental team members.
Working Conditions
- Operate in a well-lighted, clean environment near the dental chair.
- Wear protective gear to prevent infection.
- Follow safety procedures, especially with x-ray equipment.
Experience & Qualifications
- Certified Dental Assistant by the A.D.A.
- Minimum of two years of Dental Assistant experience.
- Experience with dental implants preferred.
- Reliable, team-oriented, with good manual dexterity.
- Current CPR certification.
Physical Requirements
- Work in an office environment, walking and standing for extended periods.
- Lift/move up to 50 pounds.
- Perform precise movements and coordinate limbs effectively.
- Support body strength and flexibility for various physical tasks.
Compensation & Benefits
