JOB TITLE: Mechanic

QUALIFICATIONS: High school diploma or GED. Four years or more experience as a gasoline and diesel mechanic. Must possess a valid CDL Class B Passenger and School Bus Endorsement and SDE Bus Driver Certificate. Spends 80-85% of time on feet during working hours, walking, bending, climbing, and reaching. Must be skilled at using air hoist, jacks, micrometer, calipers, wrenches, electronic scope and tune up equipment. Must be able to lift 50-100 pounds. Department of Motor vehicle records will be requested yearly. Superintendent may approve appropriate and acceptable alternatives to the listed qualifications.

CONTRACT: 12 Months

WORKING HOURS: 8 hours daily, usually between 6:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m.

REPORTS TO: Transportation Administrator

EVALUATED BY: Transportation Administrator

SUPERVISES: Does not supervise

GRADE: V

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

1. Overhaul, repair, maintain, and service school vehicles.
2. Plan work schedule for the repairs of all vehicles.
3. Maintain maintenance records of vehicles.
4. Subject to be called at night if a vehicle has mechanical problems.
5. Refuel and detail district vehicles.
6. Perform other duties as assigned.
7. Drive Bus on Route.
