Kitsap Transit has been operating since 1983 and with that, the agency has grown substantially.
We are looking for someone to diagnose and repair mechanical defects in diesel and gasoline powered buses and vehicles, including engines, transmissions, electrical, hydraulic, and heating/air conditioning systems. The Vehicle Maintenance department has several shifts on weekdays and Saturdays.

Persons hired in this position are required to enroll in medical insurance through the Machinists Health and Welfare Trust. This insurance will take effect (first day of the second month following the month during which the employee was compensated for 80 hours as a Mechanic member). The insurance premium will be deducted on their first paycheck which Payroll will calculate.
The employee will accrue general leave at 6.7693 hours per pay period, as well as nine (9) scheduled holidays plus two (2) floating holidays throughout the year, pro-rated based on the number of hours worked per pay period up to a maximum of 80 hours per pay period. The employee will earn their floating holidays after your 4th month of employment. In addition, the employee will receive a free Kitsap Transit transportation pass.
