Job Overview

A C&B Mechanic is responsible for service and repair on electrical and mechanical equipment on marine vessels and heavy equipment. You should have knowledge of boat engines and heavy equipment, be able to work on land and on a river. You should be able to diagnosis problems with electrical systems, have proven experience working with heavy machinery and troubleshoot issues on the job site. You will supply your own tools and C&B will supply specialty tools and vehicle (truck) to drive while on site at our locations.
Responsibilities/Job Content
  • Traveling to location site where the vessel/heavy equipment is located.
  • Testing/Troubleshooting marine engines and electrical systems.
  • Carrying out services and minor repairs on outboard, inboard, and vessel engines.
  • Conducting plumbing and intake repairs.
  • Replacing broken or worn-out engine parts.
  • Repairing faulty hydraulic and steering systems.
  • Conducting electrical HVAC system maintenance.
  • Completing service records and repair documents.
  • Inspecting trucks, cranes, bulldozers, and other heavy equipment for proper performance.
  • Diagnosing faults using computerized testing equipment.
  • Adjusting equipment and replacing faulty parts.
  • Cleaning, lubricating, and conducting routine services on heavy-duty equipment.
  • Cleaning and servicing of machine attachments like winches, blades, and side booms.
  • Consulting with mechanics on larger jobs.
  • Reporting damaged or faulty equipment to management.
Requirements

Requirements/Qualifications
Experience
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Certification as a Diesel Mechanic preferred.
  • Understanding of computer testing technologies.
  • Ability to lift heavy machinery.
  • Ability to work after-hours if required.
  • Good communication skills.
  • Proven work experience as a Marine Mechanic preferred.
  • Knowledge of marine engine and electrical auxiliary systems.
  • Welding certification a plus.
  • Knowledge of marine hydraulic systems and related parts.
  • Ability to rig heavy equipment and work in confined spaces.
  • Knowledge of boat steering systems.
  • Computer Skills.
  • On-Call every 4th
Certifications
  • Must be able to obtain a TWIC card within 30 days of employment and maintain thereafter
  • Valid driver's license, with clean MVR.
