Position Overview: We are seeking a seasoned Lead Diesel & Gas Mechanic to join our dynamic team. This leadership role involves overseeing and executing maintenance and repairs on our diverse fleet of diesel and gas-powered vehicles and equipment. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 10 years of experience in fleet maintenance, with expertise in fuel systems, transmissions, brakes, wheel bearings, undercarriage, and engine performance. This role demands a detail-oriented, safety-conscious individual capable of managing a team and ensuring the reliability and functionality of our fleet.

Responsibilities

  • Perform routine and advanced maintenance and repairs on a wide range of diesel and gas-powered vehicles and equipment.
  • Diagnose, troubleshoot, and resolve mechanical issues in engines, fuel systems, transmissions, brake systems, wheel bearings, undercarriages, and engine performance.
  • Lead and mentor a team of mechanics, providing guidance, training, and support as needed.
  • Ensure all vehicles and equipment are in optimal working condition, minimizing downtime and maximizing operational efficiency.
  • Oversee the completion of preventative maintenance tasks to avoid costly repairs and extend vehicle lifespan.
  • Manage inventory for parts and tools necessary for repairs and maintenance.
  • Maintain accurate records of all maintenance and repair activities in accordance with company policies.
  • Complete service work orders through Aspire, ensuring all tasks are documented, tracked, and closed out in the system.
  • Adhere to all safety protocols and regulations, ensuring a safe working environment for yourself and the team.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of maintenance schedules and procedures to improve fleet reliability.
  • Work closely with other departments to ensure timely and efficient repair turnaround for vehicles and equipment.
  • Perform emergency repairs when needed to ensure the fleet remains operational at all times.
Qualifications
  • 3 - 5 years of experience as a diesel and gas mechanic, with a focus on fleet maintenance.
  • Extensive knowledge and hands-on experience with fuel systems, transmissions, brake systems, wheel bearings, undercarriage, and engine performance.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to manage a team effectively.
  • Ability to diagnose complex mechanical issues and develop effective solutions.
  • Proficiency in the use of diagnostic tools and equipment to troubleshoot and repair mechanical issues.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently or with minimal supervision.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
