HVAC Maintenance Mechanic – First Shift (Temp-to-Perm)
Pay Rate: $28–$32/hr
Position Summary:
We are seeking two skilled HVAC Maintenance Mechanics to join our team on first shift. Under occasional supervision, the HVAC Maintenance Mechanic will identify, plan, and complete all preventative maintenance, repair, installation, and adjustments of refrigeration, heating, air conditioning, temperature control, and related equipment. This role ensures daily work requests and projects are completed safely and efficiently, while complying with Federal, State, and Local codes, company policies, and technical specifications. The mechanic will communicate with management, peers, and customers, maintain tools, and keep work areas clean, safe, and organized.
Essential Job Functions:
- Perform extensive preventive maintenance on HVAC equipment, including inspecting, lubricating, cleaning, adjusting, and replacing worn or defective parts.
- Provide guidance and direction to other maintenance staff assisting with projects.
- Use technical knowledge, system logs, and test equipment to anticipate, diagnose, and resolve unusual system failures.
- Respond promptly to equipment failures, safely and efficiently repairing or replacing parts, testing operation, and notifying impacted customers of status.
- Identify and order necessary parts, keeping management informed of order status.
- Observe HVAC and related system operations and provide written recommendations for efficiency improvements.
- Maintain accurate records of work orders, repairs, adjustments, and materials usage.
- Maintain safe, clean, and organized mechanical rooms and work areas.
- Participate in planned coverage for HVAC-related emergency call service.
Functional Skills & Qualifications:
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical manuals, and other documentation.
- Metal fabrication, system air balancing, soldering, pneumatic and electrical controls.
- Working knowledge of HVAC control software (e.g., Honeywell, Tour & Anderson) and related equipment, tools, and system functionality.
- Experience maintaining and repairing Air Handling Units, Chillers, Cooling Towers, Boilers, Pumps, Motors, Valves, Heat Exchangers, Controls, Compressors, Kitchen Equipment, and Steam Traps.
- Use of hand tools, pipe threaders, welders, torches, HVAC gauges, multimeters, sheet metal tools, drills, saws, manlifts, ladders, carbon monoxide analyzers, refrigerant detectors, and other related equipment.
Requirements:
- HVAC degree or certificate
- Freon reclaiming certification
- Valid Michigan driver’s license
