UPMC Altoona Regional Health Services is hiring a full-time LPN - Call Center to answer all incoming phone calls and respond to patients with the physicians' answers. This role works Monday - Friday with varied shifts between 8 am - 5:30 pm. Upon completion of training, the position offers the option to work from home 50% of the time.
Responsibilities:
- Handle outgoing calls to patients with responses from providers, including calling or faxing prescriptions.
- Follow OSHA recommendations regarding housekeeping duties.
- Manage emails from patients and responses from providers.
- Document appropriately.
- Occasionally schedule physician referrals, lab, and diagnostic studies at hospitals and other facilities.
- Request reports from facilities and distribute them to relevant departments for provider access.
- Provide patients with complete information about tests or procedures, including preparation requirements.
- Schedule appointments via telephone based on patient or provider requests, following physician parameters.
- Handle incoming and outgoing faxes from facilities and pharmacies.
- Respond to patient calls regarding illness, medication refills, etc., document per policy, and forward information to the appropriate physician.
