Blaster/Mechanical Cleaning Technician (Construction)

Job Overview

Performs blasting, mechanical cleaning, and chemical pre-cleaning to ensure high-quality, clean surfaces for our customers. Maintains a safe, clean, and organized work environment. Reports to the Department Supervisor & Plant Manager.

Responsibilities

1. Load abrasive media into machines and load parts into cabinets or tumbling barrels.
2. Operate equipment to blast or flow abrasive-laden compressed air over parts.
3. Manipulate nozzles and inspect parts during the process.
4. Verify part counts and inspect finished parts for quality.
5. Properly package completed parts.
6. Understand equipment, media types, air pressures, and their effects on substrates.
7. Handle materials safely, including solvents and media.
8. Maintain records related to the process.
9. Work in chemical environments with appropriate PPE, including respirators.
10. Lift 10-30 lbs repeatedly without assistance.
11. Work overtime as needed and perform other related duties.

Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent. Basic math and reading comprehension skills. Flexibility to adapt to changing responsibilities.

Physical Requirements

Remain stationary 70% of the time, frequently move parts/equipment up to 50 lbs, and have good visual acuity. Annual color and near-vision tests required.

Travel

Occasional local and overnight travel may be required.
