Education Qualifications:

• Bachelor of Social Work (BSW) required; Master (MSW) degree preferred

Job Description:

The social worker is responsible for implementing standards of care for medical social work services, including:

• Assessing the psychosocial status of patients and families/caregivers related to the patient's terminal illness and environment
• Carrying out social evaluations, including family dynamics, caregiver abilities, communication patterns, and risks for suicide, neglect, or abuse, and planning interventions based on findings
• Counseling patients and families/caregivers regarding stress and coping difficulties, providing crisis intervention when necessary
• Traveling throughout the day and some after-hours
