Job Summary:

A skilled and experienced Radiology IT Applications Support Specialist is sought to provide advanced application support for radiology applications. This role is crucial for the seamless operation, optimization, and ongoing maintenance of PACS, RIS, voice recognition, and other related clinical imaging applications. This person will be a key resource in troubleshooting complex technical issues, implementing system upgrades and integrations, and ensuring radiology staff can effectively utilize the technology to deliver exceptional patient care.

Key Responsibilities:

Provide Advanced Application Support:
  • Serve as primary support point for complex technical issues related to PACS, RIS, voice recognition, and other clinical imaging applications.
  • Diagnose and resolve intricate software and workflow issues, working collaboratively with vendors and internal IT teams.
  • Monitor system performance and proactively identify potential problems, ensuring system uptime and optimal efficiency.
  • Support system upgrades, patch installations, and infrastructure changes impacting radiology systems, including regression testing and end-user support.
  • Participate in on-call rotations to provide support outside of normal business hours, addressing critical system issues in a timely manner.
Workflow Optimization and System Integration:
  • Analyze radiology workflows and collaborate with clinical staff to identify opportunities for system optimization and efficiency improvements.
  • Design and implement workflows that align with clinical needs and maximize productivity.
  • Support the integration of radiology systems with other healthcare applications, including EHR and RIS, ensuring data integrity and seamless data exchange.
  • Maintain expertise in healthcare interoperability standards, such as DICOM and HL7.
Technical Expertise and Knowledge Transfer:
  • Possess in-depth technical knowledge of radiology applications, including PACS, RIS, and associated hardware and software.
  • Maintain comprehensive knowledge of system architecture to recommend enhancements for maintenance, support processes, and training programs.
  • Develop and maintain technical documentation, guides, and knowledge base articles to support end-users and team members.
  • Provide guidance and mentorship to junior team members, sharing expertise and fostering a collaborative learning environment.
Collaboration and Communication:
  • Collaborate effectively with radiologists, technologists, IT teams, and vendors to resolve issues and implement solutions.
  • Communicate complex technical concepts clearly and concisely to diverse audiences, including clinicians and IT professionals.
  • Manage stakeholder expectations and provide regular updates on project progress and issue resolution.
Security and Compliance:
  • Ensure compliance with HIPAA privacy and security regulations, maintaining data security within healthcare IT environments.
  • Ensure appropriate application access rights are assigned and maintained for users.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience providing application support for radiology applications, including PACS and RIS.
  • In-depth knowledge of PACS systems, radiology workflows, and healthcare interoperability standards (DICOM, HL7).
  • Strong technical troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience with system implementation, integration, configuration, and testing.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and customer service skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities effectively.
  • Experience working in a healthcare IT environment.
  • Relevant certifications (e.g., CIIP) are highly preferred.
