State Technical College of Missouri’s IT department is seeking a highly motivated and skilled technician to join our team. This position will serve as a junior server administrator under the college’s Senior Systems Administrator while also functioning as a front-line support representative for campus technology needs. This role is ideal for a candidate with solid IT support experience who is ready to expand into server and virtualization technologies under expert guidance. Required Qualifications:
- 3 years of professional IT experience in technical support or systems role
- Strong experience with diagnosing and repairing hardware/software issues in a networked environment
- Familiarity with basic networking concepts and troubleshooting methods
- Experience using software deployment tools, scripts, or batch files
- Comfort working with AV equipment such as projectors, sound systems, and racked AV systems
- Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team
- Must be able to lift/move up to 70 pounds occasionally and perform tasks involving ladders, confined spaces, and tools
- Prior experience in an educational or higher education IT environment
- Familiarity with virtualization technologies such as Hyper-V, VMware, Proxmox, or XCP-ng
- Experience working inside server rooms or data centers in any capacity
- Basic understanding of server roles such as file services, Active Directory, or Group Policy
- Junior Server Administrator / Infrastructure Support (Under Senior Oversight)
- Assist with server operating system maintenance and monitoring tasks
- Participate in server deployments and routine updates in physical and virtual environment
- Shadow and support the Senior Administrator in server patching, configuration, and monitoring
- Help perform basic backups and assist in recovery testing
- Learn and apply server hardening and baseline security best practices
- Document configuration changes and participate in change control procedures
- Respond to server-related alerts or tickets in coordination with senior staff
- Perform other duties as assigned
- Install, configure, maintain, and repair technology hardware and software
- Support all college technology spaces, including classrooms, labs, conference rooms, and offices
- Train faculty, staff, and students on device and software usage
- Troubleshoot LAN/WLAN connectivity and hardware-related issues (computers, printers, phones, etc.)
- Install and configure operating systems, Office suite, and standard campus software
- Perform minor cabling, including pulling, network termination, and testing
- Assist the Help Desk and escalate complex issues to senior team members
- Provide occasional IT/AV support during evening/weekend campus events
- Help maintain inventory and asset control of IT equipment
- Perform other duties as assigned
