Compensation

Responsibilities
- Coordinate, configure, install, test, and troubleshoot all personal computer hardware/software, printers and other peripheral devices connected to the Department's network; work as part of an established team to deliver service excellence and the highest quality customer service to users of the KCPD/REJIS criminal justice network.
- Provide customer-centric technical support to users department-wide with emphasis on superior service; help instill the importance of service.
- Provide a higher level of technical support and troubleshooting compared with Technician I.
- Provide assistance concerning the use of computer hardware and software, including printing, installation, network connectivity, electronic mail, and operating systems.
- Maintain work tickets, requests, and time-logs within the service desk software.
- Understand department protocol, methods, and security related to installation and maintenance of hardware and software.
- Serve as alternate timekeeper of assigned shift.
- Provide to Computer Services Specialist I an outstanding example of teamwork.
- Assist in troubleshooting for all end-user devices; provide training as needed.
- Research availability of hardware and software as required for diagnosing and correcting problems.
- Set up equipment for employee use, performing and ensuring proper installation of cables, operating systems, or appropriate software.
- Assist in product evaluation and testing of hardware/software for future improvements, feasibility, and applicability to department products, including evaluation, testing, and recommendations regarding product potential.
- Assist in creating and maintaining standard operating procedures (SOPs).
- Install and perform repairs to hardware, software, or peripheral equipment, following design or installation specifications.
- Maintain reliable and predictable attendance.
- Continue advancing skills through research, attendance at educational conferences and relevant courses or workshops.
- Perform related duties as required and understand that essential functions may be redefined to comply with ADA/ADAAA and MHRA guidelines.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- CompTIA A+ certification required; Network+ certification preferred.
- Five years of experience performing advanced end-user support; internal promotion may require advanced knowledge of KCPD devices and network.
- Comparable work experience and technical/vocational training considered.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships and contribute to a positive team atmosphere within the Section/Unit/Division.
- A valid Missouri driver's license and a good driving record.
Physical Requirements
- Lift up to 50 pounds; ability to bend, crawl, carry equipment, kneel, climb, and work on the floor under counters and desks multiple times a day.
Job Location and Travel
Position operates in a standard office environment 40% of the time; remaining 60% is travel and work at other remote sites within the Kansas City area.
