Senior Accountant

Chicago Metro – Hybrid

$90,000 – $110,000 base salary

We are partnered with an established, consumer products organization who is seeking a Senior Accountant. This role is focused on general ledger accounting and will play a key role in ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting. The ideal candidate is a CPA with a strong foundation in public accounting, public company experience, and an understanding of large ERP systems. Key Responsibilities

• Prepare and review journal entries and general ledger reconciliations for month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close.
• Ensure accuracy of financial statements in accordance with US GAAP and company policies.
• Assist with preparation of SEC reporting schedules and audit support documentation.
• Analyze and investigate variances in financial data, providing insights and recommendations.
• Collaborate with internal departments (e.g., FP&A, Supply Chain, Operations) to ensure appropriate accounting treatment of transactions.
• Support internal and external audits by providing required documentation and explanations.
• Identify opportunities to streamline and improve existing accounting processes and controls.
• Maintain and improve internal control documentation to support SOX compliance.
• Assist with implementation and optimization of ERP processes and financial systems.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting; Master’s degree a plus.
• Certified Public Accountant (CPA) required.
• 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, including: Public accounting experience (Big4 or large regional firm preferred), Public company experience, ideally in a SOX-compliant environment and/or consumer products industry experience
• Strong technical accounting knowledge and application of GAAP.
• Experience with large ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, JDEdwards).
• Advanced Excel skills and proficiency in data analysis.
• Strong organizational and communication skills with the ability to collaborate cross-functionally.
• Detail-oriented with a continuous improvement mindset.
