The New York Office of Holland & Knight is seeking a Paralegal for its Real Estate Capital Markets group. The Paralegal will assist attorneys and practice groups with various types of legal matters, providing support in preparing legal documents, researching and compiling data, drafting documents, and maintaining responsibility for files, calendars, and scheduling meetings. Candidates must have strong experience in commercial real estate finance (lender's side), including secured lending, as well as related title and survey expertise. Immediate transferable skills, a strong professional background, and good communication skills are essential. The position is currently a hybrid role with specific days required to be in the office, which may change based on the future needs of the Firm or industry standards. Key Responsibilities and Essential Job Functions: Case Management: Assist attorneys with all phases of litigation, including case intake, discovery, motion practice, trial preparation, and appeals. Document Management: Organize, index, and maintain case files (physical and electronic); manage document production and retrieval through e-discovery platforms. Legal Research & Writing: Conduct factual and legal research; draft pleadings, discovery requests/responses, subpoenas, correspondence, and case summaries. Discovery Support: Collect, review, and analyze documents, deposition transcripts, medical records, and other evidence; prepare privilege logs and manage databases. Court Filings: Prepare and file pleadings and other legal documents in state and federal courts, ensuring compliance with court rules and deadlines. Deposition & Trial Prep: Coordinate deposition scheduling; prepare witness files, exhibit lists, and trial binders; assist with trial logistics and courtroom support. Calendaring & Deadlines: Maintain litigation calendars, track deadlines, and ensure timely filings and responses. Client & Witness Communication: Act as a point of contact with clients, experts, and witnesses to coordinate meetings, gather information, and prepare testimony materials. Special projects and additional duties as assigned. Required Skills: Organizational skills to work independently and meet deadlines in an atmosphere of frequent interruptions. Organizational skills to maintain daily accounting of time records and input timesheets into the system directly. Communication skills to interact with all levels of internal staff, attorneys, and management, and external clients of the firm. Analytical and critical thinking skills sufficient to make decisions regarding daily work. Time management skills to handle multiple tasks efficiently and accurately. Required Qualifications & Education: Bachelor's degree 5+ years' experience in commercial real estate, preferably at mid to large firms and/or national title insurance underwriter Preferred Qualifications & Education: Paralegal certification a plus Physical Requirements: Ability to sit or stand for extended periods of time. Moderate or advanced keyboard usage. The base salary range for this position is $51.50/hr - $77.30/hr. An individual's actual compensation will depend on the individual's qualifications and experience.
