SENIOR ACCOUNTANT

A partner in progress, Rancho delivers proactive vegetation management, environmental and professional solutions that ensure safety, reliability, and environmental stewardshipprotecting communities and powering the future. Rancho is currently hiring for the position of SENIOR ACCOUNTANT. This position is based in our San Bernardino, CA regional office.

As a Senior Accountant; your position will consist of the following responsibilities:

  • Review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements. ( Ensure compliance with GAAP)
  • Analyze variances and explain financial results to management.

General Ledger & Closing

  • Oversee journal entries, account reconciliations, and accruals.
  • Maintain accuracy and integrity of the general ledger.

Budgeting & Forecasting

  • Support budget preparation and financial forecasting.
  • Provide insights to improve financial planning and cost efficiency.

Audit & Compliance

  • Conduct monthly internal audit and coordinate with external auditors during annual audits.
  • Support tax filings and regulatory reporting.

Process Improvement

  • Develop and implement more efficient accounting processes.
  • Mentor and review work of junior accountants.

Cross-Department Support

  • Work with operations, HR, Fleet, admin, and other teams on financial matters.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education

  • Bachelors degree in accounting, Finance, or related field (required).
  • Masters degree in accounting, Finance, or MBA (preferred but not always required).

Experience

  • 3-5+ years of accounting experience , including exposure to:
  • Month-end and year-end close
  • Budgeting and forecasting
  • Public accounting
  • Lease accounting
  • Experience with service companies

Technical Skills

  • Proficiency in accounting software such as:
  • QuickBooks, NetSuite, SAP, Oracle, or similar ERP systems
  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel (formulas, pivot tables, data analysis)
  • Understanding of GAAP / IFRS and regulatory compliance
  • Proficiency in Ramp Platform

Soft Skills

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
  • Attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Ability to mentor or supervise junior accountants
  • Driven by results and meet deadlines

Optional / Additional Requirements

  • Familiarity with tax filings, audits, or treasury functions
  • Ability to handle large datasets and financial modeling
  • Knowledge of internal controls and process improvement
