The Revenue Accountant plays a critical role in ensuring the accuracy, integrity, and timeliness of all revenue-related financial transactions for the organization. Position is responsible for managing and reconciling all revenue streams, including grants, program revenue, and other sources of income, while ensuring compliance with GAAP, funder requirements, and nonprofit standards. The Revenue Accountant will work closely with the IT department to ensure the Electronic Health Record (EHR) system is functioning properly and integrates effectively with financial systems.
Key Responsibilities include
EHR Mental Health Billing
- Record and reconcile all revenue transactions in accordance with GAAP and nonprofit accounting standards.
- Partner with the Program Leaders and IT to ensure the EHR system is accurately capturing billable services.
- Collaborate with IT to ensure clinical billing align with financial reporting needs.
- Participate in testing, trouble shooting, and enhancement of EHR related financial modules.
- Identify and resolve discrepancies between billing systems and financial records.
- Create and manage manual invoices for all non-clinical billing
- Ensure accurate coding and documentation for non-clinical services to support timely and compliant billing.
- Collaborate with Program Leaders and IT to ensure non-clinical revenue is maximized.
- Reconcile accounts receivable and follow up on outstanding balances
- Support annual audits by preparing schedules and documentation related to revenue.
- Assist in grant tracking and reporting, ensuring compliance with funding requirements.
- Ensure compliance with internal and external regulations.
- Identify and implement improvements to revenue accounting processes and systems.
- Assist in the development of policies and procedures related to revenue management.
- Bachelors degree in Accounting required.
- Minimum 2+ years of accounting experience, preferably in a nonprofit and/or clinical billing environment.
- Experience with EHR systems and financial software preferred (e.g. Sage Intacct, Redcap, NextGen).
- Proficiency in Excel and data analysis.
- Ability to work collaboratively across departments.
