The Opportunity
We're seeking a Staff Accountant to join our Finance & Accounting team in downtown Cincinnati. This is a great opportunity for an early-career professional to deepen their accounting expertise while contributing to a firm that values collaboration, curiosity, and continuous improvement.
In this role, you'll be responsible for the core financial functions that keep the firm running-things like general ledger entries, reconciliations, accounts payable and receivable, payroll, and reporting. But because of the way we work cross-functionally, collaboratively, and with openness to new ideas you'll also have the opportunity to get involved in more strategic and high-level work over time.
As you help streamline and automate recurring accounting tasks, you'll create capacity for deeper engagement in financial scenario modeling and planning that supports decisions that guide the direction of the firm. And because of the size and agility of our team, your ideas will be welcomed, thoughtfully considered, and may help shape how we work moving forward.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage day-to-day accounting tasks including general ledger entries, account reconciliations, and analysis.
- Support month-end and year-end close processes with accuracy and timeliness.
- Prepare and review financial statements, reports, and journal entries.
- Maintain accurate records of accounts payable and accounts receivable.
- Process payroll and ensure confidentiality of sensitive information.
- Assist in budget preparation and variance analysis.
- Research and resolve accounting discrepancies.
- Identify and implement opportunities to automate and streamline financial processes.
- Collaborate across departments to support project accounting and promote financial awareness.
Key Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting.
- 13 years of professional accounting experience.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and familiarity with accounting systems.
- High attention to detail and a strong sense of accountability.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills.
- A collaborative mindset and ability to work well across teams and disciplines.
- Interest in improving processes and a willingness to explore new ways of working.
- Ability to handle sensitive information with discretion.
Preferred Experiences
- Experience with an ERP platform designed for project accounting
- Knowledge of project or cost accounting, particularly in the AEC (architecture, engineering, construction) industry.
