Engineering Project Manager - Infrastructure

Position Summary: Under the general direction of the mayor and the Department of Public Works, this position will serve as an essential part of the expanding Engineering staff in a city experiencing unprecedented growth and development. Candidates must have project management experience working on complex, multi-discipline construction projects and possess knowledge of engineering principles and subsurface infrastructure construction. Essential Functions: Plan, coordinate, implement, and supervise development of public-facing engineering projects, including streets/mobility access, sanitary sewer, storm drain, water distribution systems, and private utilities. Maintain project schedules and budgets; prepare and update project databases to inform Capital Improvement Plan (CIP) decisions. Assist in preparing designs, specifications, and plans for engineering and municipal construction projects. Review contracts and construction documents for compliance with engineering standards, procurement guidelines, and city policies. Track budgets and schedules for construction projects. Assist with grant reporting and reimbursement processes for eligible projects. Ensure contractor compliance with payment certification/forms and city AR/AP policies. Attend and document project meetings with designers, contractors, regulators, and city officials. Coordinate with team members, consultants, staff, and other city departments to meet project goals. Problem-solve and communicate effectively with stakeholders in a timely manner. Represent the city in discussions with businesses and contractors to address project impacts in real-time. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Experience with public utility projects (e.g., NatGrid, Verizon). Strong verbal and written communication skills. Knowledge of construction standards and building codes. Ability to read and interpret plans and specifications. Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Word. Ability to work independently and in a team within a fast-paced environment. Municipality experience is a plus but not required. High attention to detail. Excellent interpersonal and supervisory skills. Education and Experience Requirements: Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering. At least five years of civil engineering experience. Physical Demands and Work Environment: Work may be performed in office settings and within the community. Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
