The Patient Care Coordinator represents the administrative team as the public face of the Practice and supports practice operations and customer service recovery and intervention efforts. This role liaises with Cancer Center and Rad Onc, handles new patient coordination, telephone encounters, referrals, APeX in-baskets, scanning, filing, authorizations, and billing. The position may work at any UCSF campus as needed. Responsibilities
Represent the administrative team as the public face of the Practice and support practice operations and customer service recovery efforts. Liaison for Cancer Center and Rad Onc; manage new patient coordination, telephone encounters, referrals, APeX in-baskets, scanning, filing, authorizations, and billing. Maintain routine clerical operations and communications while adhering to UCSF House and Telephone Standards. Collaborate with administrative, clinical and management teams; problem-solve, prioritize, and facilitate complex transactions. Ensure accurate information flow between medical staff, hospital departments and patients to maximize unit efficiency. Qualifications
Required: High School graduate or equivalent with four years related experience; or college degree and 6 months related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Required: Successfully passes fingerprinting protocol and is approved to be a cash collector. Strong computer skills with experience in Outlook, Word and Excel; ability to navigate multiple patient records systems; able to sit at a computer terminal with a headset for extended periods. Ability to analyze situations, prioritize tasks, develop solutions, and make recommendations; work with minimal supervision; good judgment and independence under deadlines. Excellent customer service, communication/interpersonal skills, and ability to interact with diverse individuals; basic math skills; strong organizational and problem-solving abilities. Experience with medical practice terminology; demonstrated administrative/office coordination skills. Within six months of start date, supervisor completes the proficiency checklist with the employee (if applicable). Includes: referrals and WQs, pend orders, schedule surgeries, messaging in CRM, telephone encounters, patient scheduling (MyChart), letters, patient lookup, check-in/out, scanning, and related tasks. Preferred: Demonstrated healthcare experience in patient scheduling, insurance verification, medical record data abstraction, or patient financial services; experience with EPIC; bilingual or multilingual capabilities (Spanish, Cantonese, Russian) preferred.
