Facilities Security Systems Analyst - Real Estate Division

The Facilities Security Systems Analyst (1052) coordinates the management of access control and security surveillance systems throughout various buildings across San Francisco. This position reviews existing and proposed equipment and security system conditions in existing and new RED facilities, analyzing operational and equipment needs, optimizing security systems to be installed in new buildings, identifying necessary updates or improvements, implementing proposed recommendations, troubleshooting and maintaining related software and hardware, coordinating with users, vendors and purchasing personnel to procure equipment and services. Essential duties: Installs, configures and/or maintains user end programming for access control and security software and hardware, such as card readers, door contacts, electric strikes, intercoms, alarms, surveillance cameras and other security equipment, devices and applications. Conducts systems analysis for security access and surveillance systems, assessing and optimizing designs and analyzing functional operations, creating and analyzing access control and surveillance reports in order to provide data-driven insights for security operations, incident tracking and compliance needs. Consults with and supports users to select security hardware and software that aligns with safety goals and compliance standards, access and surveillance system designs, products and vendors. Troubleshoots and resolves technical issues with access control software and hardware, including phone and on-site support. Supports vendors during the installation and maintenance of security system software and hardware, conducting walkthroughs, confirming completion of contracted work, facilitating communication regarding vendor compliance or resolving related complaints. Conducts operational and technical feasibility studies, proposes recommendations or improvements. Tests and updates access and security software for network compatibility. Maintains and updates security access information, creates training guides for users or reference materials for internal use and conducts user training on system features and maintenance. Assists in developing scopes of work and establishing contracts, reviewing quotes and researching security system equipment, products, materials and services. Stays current with access and security technology, identifying opportunities for improvements through automation or system changes. Performs other related duties as assigned. Nature of work: requires sufficient strength and coordination for lifting, pushing, pulling and/or carrying the weight of parts and/or equipment; hand/eye coordination for semi-skilled movements, such as for taking apart casings, installing and reconnecting computers, devices and parts and for performing data entry; may involve extensive VDT exposure. We are looking for someone who has: Extensive hands-on experience with Honeywell Prowatch systems, including both hardware and software. Proficiencies include device installation, network integration, system commissioning, troubleshooting, and programming of card access, time zones, and other access control functions. Extensive hands-on experience installing and integrating security alarms with access control system software. Extensive hands-on experience with Avigilon Video Security Hardware and Avigilon VMS software. Device installation, network configuration, IP configuration, adding devices to network, operational commissioning of new devices, troubleshooting and addressing operational issues. Installation and commissioning of NVRs including performing software upgrades. Minimum qualifications: Education: An associate degree in business administration, public administration, information systems, economics, finance, computer science or a closely related field from an accredited college or university OR its equivalent in terms of total course credits/units [i.e., at least sixty (60) semester or ninety (90) quarter credits/units with a minimum of twenty (20) semester or thirty (30) quarter credits/units in one of the fields above or a closely-related field]. Experience: One (1) year in the information systems field, including technical support, content management, administration of network applications or system analysis. Substitution: Additional experience as described above may be substituted for the required degree on a year-for-year basis (up to a maximum of two (2) years). One (1) year is equivalent to thirty (30) semester units / forty-five (45) quarter units with a minimum of 10 semester / 15 quarter units in one of the fields above or a closely related field. Completion of the 1010 Information Systems Trainee Program may be substituted for the required degree.
