Our client, a
top ENR-ranked General Contractor headquartered in Columbus with over 100 years of proven success , is seeking a
Project Manager to join their Self-Perform Group . This role offers the chance to work within a highly respected GC while leveraging hands-on trade experience to drive quality and efficiency in self-perform work. Position Overview The Project Manager Self-Perform Group will
actively manage all aspects of one or more self-perform construction projects from beginning to end.
Projects will typically range between
$1M and $5M , with a strong emphasis on
interiors and finishes . Candidates with a background in
concrete, carpentry, drywall, steel, or masonry particularly those who began their careers as a carpenter or laborerare strongly preferred. Essential Responsibilities Manage planning, budgeting, scheduling, contracts, and purchasing necessary prior to project start. Oversee the development of project schedules, milestone dates, and performance standards. Lead and coordinate self-perform field teams and subcontractors on smaller-scale commercial projects. Review and approve invoices, change orders, budgets, and billing using a standard cost code system. Expedite and track delivery of drawings, RFIs, materials, labor, and approvals. Partner with Accounting, Estimating, and field supervision to ensure seamless project delivery. Build strong relationships with subcontractors, clients, suppliers, and internal stakeholders. Conduct and document regular project meetings with owners, subcontractors, and architects. Ensure projects are built according to schedule, quality standards, and client expectations. Provide close-out documents including warranties, guarantees, punch lists, and turnover packages. Mentor and guide Assistant Project Managers and Project Engineers. Maintain project information, subcontracts, and purchase orders within CMiC or similar software. Support business development efforts through participation in project presentations and interviews. Qualifications Bachelors degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or related field (preferred) OR equivalent experience. 510+ years of commercial construction experience, including
5+ years in project management or estimating . Prior experience in
self-perform work
(concrete, carpentry, drywall, steel, masonry, etc.). Hands-on carpenter or laborer background strongly preferred. Ability to read and interpret commercial blueprints. Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills. Competence with construction management software (CMiC, Procore, etc.). Willingness to travel as needed. Compensation & Benefits Base salary:
