Overview The Ophthalmology Clinic Manager manages all clinical operations under the direction of the Director. Responsibilities include overseeing clinical and administrative staff, managing patient care programs, ensuring compliance with regulations, and leading quality assurance initiatives. The role requires maintaining operational alignment with organizational goals, supervising staff, and promoting a positive work environment.
Essential Duties
Supervise all subordinate staff, including recruitment, training, performance evaluation, and discipline.
Act as a contact for physicians, staff, and external departments to address issues.
Coordinate patient care programs and ensure compliance with standards and regulations.
Investigate incidents, complaints, and suggestions, and implement corrective actions.
Oversee billing procedures and ensure compliance with protocols.
Participate in policy development, planning, and administrative procedures.
Develop and implement security procedures and coordinate with security departments.
Monitor and evaluate patient care quality, and develop staff educational programs.
Manage the department budget, including expenditures and financial reporting.
Collaborate with IT regarding information systems and report system issues.
Oversee facilities and equipment maintenance and repairs.
Act as a liaison to facilitate communication between hospital and department.
Communicate priorities and manage staff workload.
Support implementation of new programs and ongoing initiatives.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
High School diploma or equivalent required; Bachelor’s degree in a related field preferred.
Minimum 2 years managing staff and daily operations.
At least 5 years of experience in acute or ambulatory ophthalmology settings.
Strong strategic, analytical, and planning skills.
Proficiency in computer skills, MS Office, and internet use.
Excellent management and decision-making skills, with the ability to motivate staff and improve processes.
Preferred Qualifications
Five years of experience as a certified ophthalmic technician (COT).
Licenses/Certifications
Fire Life Safety Training (LA City) required within 30 days of hire if not already obtained.
Certified Ophthalmic Technician (COT) preferred.
The annual salary range is $81,120 - $133,010. USC considers various factors in salary offers, including experience, education, skills, and market conditions.
