GENERAL FUNCTION The Optometric Technician at Target Optical provides exceptional patient service and ensures high-quality care, creating value in patients' lives through attentive service.
MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Greet guests promptly and provide attentive service to meet their needs.
Determine the purpose of the guest's visit; explain shopping procedures or required paperwork and tests in-store or in the doctor's office.
Review prescriptions and patient information carefully; identify special needs and consult with Opticians, Doctors, or Management as needed.
Show patience and courtesy to all guests and patients, including those who are indecisive or difficult.
Perform work accurately under time pressure, resolve guest issues quickly.
Manage appointment scheduling and operate computer systems proficiently.
Organize and file patient records efficiently.
Handle contact lens orders, shipments, and invoice submissions.
Operate POS system accurately for payments.
Maintain a clean, attractive store appearance and organize displays.
Report safety issues to management and follow safety protocols.
Conduct pre-examination tests accurately, explain measurements, and answer patient questions.
Provide guidance on contact lens care and handling, and maintain inventory.
Support the Optometrist with clinical tasks as needed.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
At least one year of guest service experience.
High School diploma or GED.
Excellent communication and listening skills.
Basic math skills.
Interpersonal skills: friendly, caring, patient.
Sales experience.
Knowledge of store merchandise.
Familiarity with cash registers, computers, and calculators.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Experience in guest service, retail, or optical settings.
Pay Range: $19.12 - $28.81
Benefits include healthcare, retirement, paid time off, and employee discounts. Pay is determined by experience, location, and qualifications. Additional bonuses or commissions may apply.
