Hazelwood School District is hiring: Mechanic in Florissant

POSITION TITLE: Mechanic - Afternoon Shift, Hours 1:00pm - 9:30pm

REPORTS TO: Director of Transportation

POSITION SUMMARY: Performs repairs and maintenance of District buses, trucks, and automotive equipment.

FUNCTIONS OF THE JOB

Essential Functions:

1. Performs skilled repair and maintenance tasks for all District buses, trucks, automobiles, and other motorized transportation equipment.
2. Performs major engine and transmission overhauls, as required.
3. Performs electrical diagnostics and repairs.
4. Performs brake system servicing and replacement, and chassis suspension repairs, as required.
5. Performs bodywork, repairs, and painting, as well as interior maintenance and repair.
6. Performs maintenance and repair of other equipment systems and components such as exhaust system, hydraulic system, tire, and glass replacement.
7. Performs other preventative maintenance tasks in accordance with standard practices of the trade.
8. Performs all mechanical tasks in a safe and conscientious manner.

Marginal Functions:

1. Washes buses periodically.
2. Cleans up and maintains shop and equipment weekly.

Physical/Visual Activities or Demands: Activities include standing, walking, climbing, stooping, crouching, kneeling, crawling, reaching, pushing, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, and visual acuity at various distances. Moderate to heavy physical effort is required, including lifting items from 1 to over 60 lbs., either manually or with mechanical assistance.

Environmental/Atmospheric Conditions: Work is performed both indoors and outdoors, with exposure to noise, electrical hazards, moving mechanical parts, and adverse atmospheric conditions, but none to an extent that is disagreeable or hazardous.
