Overview

History of the Company: Superior Ambulance Service started in 1959 with one ambulance and today is the largest independent, locally owned, and operated emergency medical services provider in the Midwest. Superior employs more than 3,500 licensed EMTs, Paramedics and Nurses, operating a fleet of more than 800 ambulances throughout Illinois, Indiana, Ohio, Michigan, and Wisconsin. Superior also provides Critical Care, helicopter, and fixed wing emergency medical transportation.

Job Responsibilities

  • Performing inspections, diagnosis and repair of electrical, hydraulic, suspension, brake and air systems on vehicles and equipment.
  • Conducting routine maintenance work to improve vehicle functionality and longevity.
  • Completing necessary documentation associated with repairing vehicles, documenting parts usage, and repair times.
  • Performing other related maintenance work.
  • Communicating needed repairs or tasks to manager.
  • Maintain a safe work station.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Willing to work on gas and diesel engines as needed.
  • Knowledge of basic electrical components including switches, relays, and circuits.
  • Provide own tools.
  • Proficient in vehicle diagnosis and repair.
  • Experience with emergency lighting and sirens is a plus.
  • Certificates of accomplishment are valuable.
  • Motivated, self-starter, able to work independently.
  • Ability to work cooperatively with others.
  • Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions in English.
  • Ability to lift and carry items up to 75 lbs and reach overhead routinely.

Work Environment

Work involves indoor and outdoor environments, exposure to environmental elements, automotive fluids, and cleaning chemicals. Regular verbal communication with team members.
