Job Title: Automation Developer
Location: Richmond, VA
Duration: 18 Months
Position Overview The Automation Developer will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining automation solutions using Ansible, Python, JavaScript, and related tools. The role requires expertise in workflow automation, ServiceNow integration, CI/CD platform testing, and collaboration with cross-functional teams to drive efficiency and process improvements. Key Responsibilities Design & Implementation
Develop and implement automation strategies in collaboration with subject matter experts. Write Python scripts and Ansible playbooks to automate workflows. Create reusable Ansible roles and modules for common tasks. Integrate automation workflows with REST APIs, ServiceNow Catalog, and webhooks. Contribute to CI/CD platform testing and pipeline automation. Operations & Maintenance
Monitor automation workflows to ensure reliable execution. Configure alerts and notifications for critical workflow issues. Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to automation scripts, playbooks, and integrations. Conduct root cause analysis and implement preventive measures. Documentation
Develop and maintain documentation for automation scripts, playbooks, and procedures. Record incident responses, resolutions, and workflow changes. Collaboration & Continuous Improvement
Work closely with application teams, network engineers, and stakeholders for seamless integration of automation solutions. Identify opportunities for process optimization and increased efficiency. Stay current with emerging automation tools and best practices. Required Qualifications
Education:
Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Technology, Engineering, or 5+ years of equivalent experience. Experience:
Minimum 5 years of hands-on experience in automation development. Technical Expertise:
Strong experience in Python, Ansible, and JavaScript for automation. Proficiency with version control systems (Git). Experience with CI/CD platform testing. Experience with ServiceNow Catalog, APIs, and scripting.
Soft Skills:
Strong problem-solving and analytical skills. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to work independently and collaboratively with cross-functional teams.
Preferred Qualifications
Certifications in ServiceNow Catalog, Ansible, Python, or JavaScript. Experience developing automation workflows in enterprise IT environments. Knowledge of configuration management and orchestration best practices.
